IWAC Conference Proceedings

Call for Proposals

The edited collection of the Seventeenth International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference supports the conference theme of WAC and the global future through approaches of flexibility, action, and innovation. IWAC 2025 offers a space for us to come together to consider the complex and complicated histories of WAC and the current evolutions of the field. The collection is both a call and an invitation for you to extend your presentation by contributing a chapter that amplifies our disciplinary voices.

We seek chapters that are framed by what Natalia Ávila Reyes describes as “building a dynamic of influence” in an exchange of knowledge and a broader shift in how we, as scholars, teachers, and administrators, consider what it means to write and be a writer across the curriculum. We see the importance of building a dynamic of influence especially as the world continues to shift in the age of new and emerging technologies, WAC’s role in teaching and learning, the development, sustainability, and (re)design of WAC programs, challenges to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, and WAC as a global movement, among many others.

In publishing the conference proceedings, we aim to provide an opportunity to extend and refine our conversations beyond our four days together in Fort Collins. We envision a collection of texts in dialogue with the various trajectories of WAC—a collection that will help us to better understand the lessons we have learned, the challenges we face, and what it will mean to influence spaces of knowledge and praxis through writing education across disciplines and communities through our work.

We invite IWAC 2025 participants to submit a proposal for a chapter based on your  conference presentation, roundtable, workshop, teaching demonstration, or poster. We  welcome submissions from the practical to the theoretical, from the pedagogical to the public. We aim to bring a collection that captures the diversity of our perspectives as students, faculty, and administrators occupying a range of institutional, disciplinary, and cultural contexts. We particularly encourage submissions that inform and are informed by critical and social justice approaches to WAC.

We anticipate releasing the collection, published as part of the WAC Clearinghouse Perspectives on Writing Series in Spring 2027. Submissions should be submitted to the collection's page on the WAC Clearinghouse Submissions Portal.

We—Caleb González, Annie Halseth, and Ann Amicucci—are also available to answer your questions at any time.
